Rabbi Nissim Barak Hetsroni had been gearing up for a career in medicine, only to shift unexpectedly into the rabbinate. Now his two paths have converged, with his recent appointment as JGH Chaplain and Spiritual Advisor.
Having become a leader in its field since its launch in 2012, the JGH’s Centre of Excellence in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Care is preparing to occupy a newly renovated area, featuring a more comfortable space for patients and improved facilities for research and teaching.
Allen F. Rubin, who was instrumental in providing stability and continuity to the JGH during the reorganization of the healthcare system in 2015, has received the hospital’s greatest honour, the Distinguished Service Award.
The Azrieli Heart Centre has been launched at the JGH, as have upgrades to Intensive Care, through a combined $25 million gift that ranks as one of the most generous acts of philanthropy in JGH history.
